Toca da Onça, Lumiar: a river beach past the Encontro

Toca da Onça works like a river beach: still water, a good swimming hole and shaded tables. To get there you must pass Encontro dos Rios.

The road

The dirt stretch has long climbs. The Viciada em Viajar author left her car at the Encontro out of caution and walked, but saw several cars driving up easily and regretted it. In dry weather an ordinary car usually makes it.

Facilities

It is private property with a restaurant, toilets and tables. Vem Viver Lumiar mentions camping and picnic facilities; the MaCamp guide lists Camping Toca da Onça with 28 tent pitches and a shared kitchen. Details in camping in Lumiar.

Can a low car reach Toca da Onça?
With dry ground ordinary cars make it, according to visitor reports. After heavy rain the dirt road gets worse.
