Things to do in Lumiar: rivers, trails and the village

Most outings in Lumiar revolve around water, and almost everything can be done without a guide or a long hike. The exception is Pedra Riscada, which takes some fitness. Below is a practical list for two or three days.

  2. Drive the roads of the Macaé de Cima protected area, 35,000 hectares of Atlantic Forest protected since 2001.

Village, food and music

  1. Spend the late afternoon at the bandstand square by the lake, where the city stages shows on dates such as the district anniversary.
  2. Eat trout, cassava-dough pizza or home cooking: the list is in restaurants in Lumiar.
  3. Go to São Pedro da Serra at night, which has more bars and small shops.

Many pools are on private land that opens only on weekends and holidays. Check before heading out, especially outside summer.
