Lumiar waterfalls: the pools, fees and access

Almost every Lumiar waterfall sits close to the road and several are on private land with a small upkeep fee. The table below gathers what the Descubra Nova Friburgo portal collected from owners and residents.

For children and older visitors

The calmest are Poço Feio, Poço Verde, Poço Belo and Toca da Onça: still water, a short walk in and a bar or restaurant nearby. Encontro dos Rios has a gentle side for swimming and a rapids side used for rafting.

For adventure lovers

The Indiana Jones waterfall is the wildest, in a canyon you wade through knee-deep, but it is closed for geological safety reasons. If you want a physical challenge, Pedra Riscada delivers more.

In summer storms build fast. Strong heat and high humidity often come before flash floods, warns Descubra Nova Friburgo.
